My background BA: Arts and Design (Central St Martins, London, 2003) BETC: Foundation Degree in Art and Design (Central Saint Martins, London, 2000) My expertise Photography Computer-aided design Film and video My focus Cultural narrative environments The relationship between the transmitter and the recipient Exploring the position of the viewer My placement Foundation 33 Three months in Foundation 33 (within Boy meets Girl) gave me the opportunity to become one of the team and use my discipline skills in a different context. It was a challenging and fascinating experience, which allowed me to follow the development of several projects and have an insight in the creative industry. Urban Plots Imagine walking down Bethnal Green Road in London, looking into shop windows. You see reflections of the buildings across the street. However, in some instances, the reflections are digital images that dissolve and morph into new shapes and colours as you look. The unexpected panoramas are, in fact, reflections of the stories, memories and visions of the environment expressed by the local community. The unfolding images capture what the Bethnal Green Road means to the people who live and work there, the particular but intangible sense of place. The project creates a “visible” voice for local people and, as the archive of stories accumulates, it becomes an alternative research resource and consultation mechanism for urban planners and architects.
