The Eco–Resort of the Future Location: Minkindani, Tanzania, Africa Date: 2028

The project produced a range of design scenarios that envision the eco-resort of the future through the eyes of different guests or residents. The "day in the life" narratives weave the African context, the visitors' needs and desires, and the physical structures into short audio-visual stories. The multidisciplinary student teams constructed their design narratives by interpreting research on social, economic and environmental sustainability, forecasts on technological innovation, and lifestyle and consumer trends.

The Eco–Resort of the Future Project was developed and run in collaboration with Arup Innovation, Foresight and Incubation and developers Habitaem. The scenarios will be shown at conferences and workshop to help extend the thinking of the industry.
Their concepts were developed in response to different drivers of change: consumer culture, new and emerging technologies, environmental, economic and political factors.
