  MA Creative Practice for Narrative Environments worked with the Foresight, Innovation and Incubation unit at Ove Arup & Partners, and the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute, Zurich to envision airport retail environments of the future.

Five teams explored contrasting forecasts re the growth or decline in passenger numbers and opposing views on whether everyone’s identity will be electronically tracked as they travel by the year 2025 or whether the travel process will be totally anonymous as border restrictions diminish.
   









  01 Airport Monkeys
envisions an airport companion in the form of a smart cuddly neck piece that whispers in your ear and guides you round the shops, restaurants and clubs in the enormous airports of the future.

02 Bringing in the Wine
by 2025 the vast Chinese population take to the skies and becomes the majority of travellers. Airports respond by being designed to evoke Chinese values, traditions and festivals.

03 Total Motion
cheap, mass air transportation becomes the norm and the future airport that takes the form of a busy street market or sook where retailer comes to you, carrying goods. You make purchases as you walk through the crowds.

04 Trip to another life
foresees an exclusive club offered at the airport that enables the wealthy and famous to change their gender as they seek both anonymity and a chance to look at the world through new eyes.

05 Woofs
a spa like environment offers acclimatisation and retail experiences to adventure seeking Well Off Older Folks, the only people with enough money to fly by 2025.
