| In 2015 downshifting is the norm. Tired of the frenetic city, people are turning towards quieter places to live and work. Arts audiences move to the country increasing the demand for cutting edge visual and performing arts in the heart of the rural landscape. Instead of gathering and exhibiting in cities, artists' clusters develop in pastoral settings all over the UK. Audiences travel to view works and performances in fields, cow sheds, rivers and forests. How do artists sustain themselves and exhibit in the countryside? How do rural communities attract and develop authors, actors, producers and audiences? Project Landscape is the organisation that facilitates communication and exchange between artists and rural communities and supports the growth of an extended rural arts networks. Project Landscape ses up cpnnections between artists and communities with complimentary interest and then suppoosrt joint creative initiatives. Over time these partnerships mature and become indipendent. Project Landscape moves on to facilitate new initiatives. The rural communities and their artists' clusters grow in scale and develop directions that are unique to them. Art production and exhibition evolves away from urban domination and ladnscape art grows in importance and status. The rural landscape becomes the most sought after art spa e of 2015. |
