In 2015 four key factors drive a new kind of art practice: the boredom of everyday routine fuels a desire for adrenalin-pumping physical danger, adventure and defiance of limitations epitomised by 'extreme sports'. Artist, sporting leaders and youth subcultures are striving to outdo rivals and develop an arts-sports hybrid described as 'extreme art' or 'creative physicallity'.

Companies are increasingly seeking to 'brand' themselves in youth-oriented and 'creative' markets. Commissioning a Risky Project is a highly visible, often spectacular way for companies to associate themselves with being active, creative, risk-taking and breaking new ground.

Extreme art/sports groups take full advantage of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) using the Risky Tribes GPS Tracker on thier mobile phones – a social networking service which enables them to meet other group members in the real world at any time and spontaneouslyl initiate creative physical activities.

Risky Projects brings together an extensive network of artists, sponsors and clients to work in partnership with Risky Tribes members. As the public-facing side of Risky Projects, Risky Tribes is much more than a GPS network – it is a catalyst for newly evolving forms of physical art.

The project anticipates a new hybrid art form that combines the adrenalin-pumping physical danger of extreme sports with boundary breaking art practice to create 'extreme arts'.
