| The written word is a valuable tool in evolving ideas and establishing narrative structures for different kinds of spaces. Groups investigate the writer’s role in the design process, and explore working with clients, curators, designers and specialist suppliers. | ![]() ![]() |
Amnesty
International at the Tate Aims: To attract people interested in the work of Amnesty International and the art loving audience of the Tate Modern; to raise funds by letting people know that donations make a real difference to victims of atrocities; to encourage visitors to get involved in Amnesty’s future campaigns. Rationale: A narrative to draw people, almost subconsciously, to the issues that concern Amnesty International. Proposal: The exhibition starts with contemporary barbed-wire art and gradually builds up to Amnesty campaign information. Four personal stories run as sub-narratives throughout the exhibition, creating empathy between visitors and victims of atrocities. A series of experience installations push the narrative and build a sense of increasing discomfort and tension. |
