| There’s sheer scale to this project, which explores the synthesis of image and architecture. Groups research, develop and present an image or set of images (still or time-based) that could be printed, projected or integrated onto buildings of different kinds. Students develop visualisations that unite images and buildings; that communicate to specific audiences without using words or sound. | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Breathing
Building Aims: Communicate the numerous functions of a modern office block, Federal Building in San Francisco, USA (under development) Rationale: Water filtration. Sewage disposal. Temperature regulation. Even air circulation. An office block’s functions are in many ways symbolic of the way the human body works. Proposal: An anatomical metaphor. This functioning breathing membrane (‘architectural lung’) forms part of the building’s ventilation system. It changes colour and activity depending on the building’s use. |
