RED RECIPES is a flexible format for biannual gatherings for friends of the Design Council's RED Team. These guests are collaborators who often work with the team, but don't necessarily know each other. RED RECIPES aims to bring them together with interesting activities centred around food.

We developed an overall idea for the series: each event is a new recipe, each recipe is a new way to interact. The recipes are like a new game to play, with new playful rules. The goal for the recipe is to achieve an air of general engagement. Though it is not a requirement for the guests to engage (and some people may very well not), the evening's activities provide an atmosphere for them to do what they want – to have fun, mingle and network.

  Final event

Guests were invited to share their creation with the rest of the crowd and run a chance to win a special prize. A photo of the makers with their recipe was taken to be part of a 'half-half' interactive show in the next room. Halves of some people were then joined with other's in a random sequence. The number of halves mixing together grew as the evening went on. Through these projections, not only guests were contribututing in a meaningful way to their environment, but unexpected ties were created.
