We asked 12 designers to tell us their 3 do’s and don’ts. Here’s a teaser of what they shared.

National Trust – Rainham at the Centre of the World

Three multidisciplinary teams of MANE students were selected to participate in this “live” project sponsored by the National Trust. The students researched the history and social context of Rainham Hall which will open for the first time later this year; they contributed to the National Trust’s visioning for the property; and they developed three site specific interactive visitor experiences that have been adopted by the National Trust as part of the programming for Rainham Hall.

In December 2013, DesignSingapore Council approached K+D to co-curate and design the visitor experience at the National Design Centre for the Singapore Design Week. This week long event, from 10th to 16th March, also coincided with the building’s inaugural opening on 12th March.

Upon initial assessment, the brief presented multiple challenges: how to draw footfall to a building that was unknown and experienced very few walk-in visitors daily, string together pre-decided exhibitions into one larger experience while also accommodating 400 VIPs for its inaugural opening?

The exhibition was the great opportunity for students to get feedback on their Major Project proposals and your thoughts and comments would have helped to develop their projects. Thanks for your all support and we hope see you at the degree show in June 2014.
