The Stock Exchange of Dreams

The student team designed an exhibition/event that showed the dreams of the office workers and financial services workforce at Docklands just after the credit crunch.

The student team worked with the Museum of London Docklands to produce a temporary exhibition for one of their LATES. One of the goals of the project was to attract office workers and financial services audiences from Docklands who do not usually visit the museum. The students researched the site and interviewed many people working in Docklands.

The narrative they developed told the story of workers dreams and indeed nightmares. Each of the 150 dreams was represented by collages and 3D “scenarios” in cardboard boxes which visitors opened to peer at the contents. Images of the boxed scenes were projected onto the walls of boxes at the entrance to preview the experience and the team attracted attention to the museum entrance by using an inflatable arch which was kindly lent by Inflate.
