In our project 'Damage' at the Truman Brewery site we focused on the Boiler House. How to create a Place from a Space become both our primary issue and led to our solution. Subtle installations put the building into context while opening up new access points into the Boiler House create a flexible space able to host various events and turns the site from a boundary into a central space for different communities.

We proposed the following: Outside on the streets a way-finding system of eagle plaques, interactive screens, secret entrances to the walled garden offering a sense of ownership for locals. Internally restoring the original boilers underneath a glass floor to maintain the floor space, sound installations transmitting stories from people about the site and an outdoor space for reflection.
