Tricia Austin
My background
Academic, researcher, author, curator and design consultant. I have organized major international conferences such as ‘user_mode: emotion and intuition in art and design, at Tate Modern. I have curated exhibitions such The Remotehome, at the Science Museum, London. I am co-author of New Media Design, published in 2007 by Lawrence King Publishing, UK.
My expertise
Narrative theory and design practice. I have given lectures on the design of narrative environments in Europe, the United States and China most recently at the three-day Narrative Space conference at Leicester University in the UK. I have worked as a design consultant on a number of commercial projects. I am currently working with Philips Electronics on narrative approaches to multisensory retail experiences.
My focus
I am interested in evolving models of multidisciplinary collaboration and the development of design practice for story-led placemaking. I see design as a crucial practice that can enrich our lives and drive economic, social and environmental sustainability.
