Erosia: Immersive Erosion Horror Dark Tourism
Erosia is an immersive experience brand blending Dark Tourism, Virtual Reality, and Eco-Horror to reimagine horror storytelling as a vehicle for cultural engagement and climate awareness.
Set initially in the coastal town of Whitby, Erosia invites visitors on a speculative journey that merges folklore, environmental catastrophe, and immersive ritual. By combining physical and digital elements, the project transforms traditional tourism into a multi-sensory experience of climate grief and adaptation.
Born from the decline of UK seaside towns, Erosia responds to coastal erosion, cultural loss, and economic crisis. Its narrative structure guides participants through five stages of climate grief, each infused with local folklore and environmental horror.
Erosia is more than a tourism concept. It is a critical design exploration of disaster aesthetics and narrative immersion. As a scalable model, its longer-term aim is to foster the development of a UK-wide dark tourism network along endangered coastlines. By integrating local culture with virtual experiences, Erosia supports economic revival while redefining horror as a powerful tool for environmental reflection.
